OOBOT40-II-KIT - OOBOT40-II Controller, kit form
- $61.95 (includes pcb, parts, and OOPic chip).
The OricomTech OOBOT40-II Robot Control Computer combines the
OOPic microcontroller with the BOT40-II Controller Board
to provide a powerful robotics controller, servo controller, and embedded systems platform.
Versatility.
This is the most versatile of the OOBOT40 boards.
the other two boards have h-bridges integrated on-board for direct motor control, while these boards have mostly
generic 3-pin interfaces.
This means they can easily be setup to interface to separate motor controller boards, LCDs, keypads,
multiple R/C servos, sensors that need +5v power or not, and various digital devices.
the 1-amp, 5 volt regulator will power many external devices.
the prototyping area allows signal-conditioning circuitry to be wired directly onto the pcb,
without the need for separate pcbs or mezzanine boards.

The new OOBOT40-II Controller Board is a greatly expanded form of the original
pcbs shipped with the OOPic, and is designed for rapid development of complex systems.
It is a perfect expansion board for both original and new versions of the
OOPic microcontorller chip, in 40-pin DIP package.
The OOBOT40 boards will also mount many regular PIC microcontroller chips.
| OOBOT40-II vs OOPic Board Comparisons |
|
Compared to the original OOPic-S boards, the OOBOT40-II adds:
1-Amp voltage regulator + heat sink.
2nd voltage regulator (adjustable output 1.25-29v) + heat sink.
2-channel RS-232 chip, with full-range RS-232 levels.
larger eeprom.
large prototyping area laid out for easy build-up.
configurable headers laid out specifically for servo, as well as general, interfacing.
ground pin associated with every I/O line on headers, for making easy external connections.
built-in pulldown terminations on all I/O lines (pullups on I²C busses).
over-voltage and current-limit protection built into every I/O line on the board.
ability to interface 20 and more servos.
|
Compared to the OOPic-R, the OOBOT40-II adds:
1-Amp TO-220 logic regulator with heatsink.
auxiliary voltage regulator output adjustable 1.25-29v, plus heatsink.
2-channel RS-232 chip, with full-range RS-232 levels.
larger eeprom.
3 additional A/D channels (7 total).
2 headers usable for external I²C devices.
large prototyping area laid out for easy build-up.
ability to interface all 40-pin DIP OOPic chips - both old and new firmware versions.
capability for both parallel and serial programming of eeprom chips.
pulldown or pullup terminations on all I/O lines.
over-voltage and current-limit protection built into every I/O line on the board.
easy replacement + upgrading of all chips.
ability to interface 20 and more servos, versus 16.
headers allow easy interfacing to separate h-bridge boards.
OOBOT40 will also accept regular PIC microcontroller chips.

TECHNICAL INFO
Refer to the next page for addtional
technical details about the OOBOT40-II Controller.
See the next page about
interfacing and programming
OOPic chips with the OOBOT40-II controller board,
as well as for sample source code.
Power
input power for logic: 8-15 vdc, up to 1-Amp.
power for servos is provided from off-board, via headers, normally 4.8 - 6 vdc at approx 300 mA per connected servo.
REG2 can be used to power a few servos.
Physical
3.6" x 3.0" (91 x 76 mm), industrial-quality double-sided FR4 pcb with heavy buss
traces, plated-through holes, solder masks and silk-screens.
Mounting hole in each corner (#4 screw).
NOTE - the OOBOT40 Controller Boards are backward compatible with all 40-pin OOPic chips,
and can be purchased without the OOPic for those having the chip already.
